How it started

Alex Castillo grew up in Miami. In 1994 he got into central air through a friend of his father's, a mechanical engineer in Hollywood Beach. That friend took him under his wing, put him through school and helped him earn his EPA license. The rest he learned hands-on in buildings and high-rises in North Miami Beach.

From Miami to the Keys

About 15 years ago Alex moved to the Florida Keys. He worked as an AC technician for Publix and also did mobile auto AC service. After more than 30 years in the trade, he earned his Florida Class B air conditioning contractor license, CAC1814057, and started Cool It Daddy Air Conditioning, Inc., serving the Florida Keys, and Miami by appointment.

Alex has always wanted to work for himself, keep his own schedule and be his own boss.

Where the name comes from

Music has been Alex's hobby all his life. He goes by DJ Daddy, and that is where Cool It Daddy came from. He is a radio DJ on Party 105.7, The Keys Party Station, and also plays weddings, sweet 16s, corporate events and private parties. He loves seeing people enjoy themselves, and he wants you to enjoy a cool, comfortable home.

What you can count on

Three promises: we answer the phone, we are honest, and we are reliable. Customers tell us:

  • He shows up on time.
  • Honest, fair prices.
  • He explains it so I understand.
  • Fast response, even at night.
  • He treats my home like his own.
  • Friendly and easy to talk to.

We give free estimates, we handle the permits on new installs, and we text you when we are on the way.

Treating people right

An AC problem rarely shows up at a good time, and some customers are already dealing with a lot. Alex explains what is going on in plain words, keeps the price fair, and treats every customer the way he would want to be treated. It is what people mean when they say he treats their home like his own.

Why Keys air conditioners wear out

Salt air and wind are hard on equipment, and maintenance is the thing most people overlook. That is a big reason AC units in the Keys often do not last as long as they should. A regular check keeps small problems small. See our Monthly Maintenance Program.

Licensed and up to date

Florida Class B air conditioning contractor license CAC1814057. Alex keeps his EPA certification, including refrigerant handling, up to date with continuing education.
